The episode in question, titled “The Axe Forgets,” saw disgraced Deputy Inspector Syril Karn (Kyle Soller) going back home to live with his mother after his overreach when tracking Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor resulted in catastrophe for the Preox-Morlana Authority. This move was the subject of several dramatic scenes where viewers saw the minor antagonist embarrassingly brought down to his lowest point. But the real star of the Star Wars show was, naturally, the bowl of blue cereal with blue milk his mom gave him, and the folks behind the show knew it.

Presumably foreseeing the many requests to see the food in real life, the Star Wars Instagram account shared a quick recipe for cereal bars inspired by the turquoise treat. It’s a fairly standard marshmallow cereal bar recipe that anybody who knows a child somehow magically knows through osmosis. But aside from the butter and marshmallows, it also calls for a bizarrely specific yet also strangely unspecified ingredient by way of “blue cereal.”
Many who watched the episode likely found themselves intrigued by Syril’s frankly rather poorly-filled bowl of striking blue cereal. Much like Grogu’s delicious-looking blue macaron cookies from The Mandalorian, fans quickly began asking how they can procure some for themselves. But unlike the cookies, which got a brief release to the public as well as several copycat recipes, this particular cerulean confection appears decidedly more difficult to come by. Users were quick to share comments under the post like, “You guys low-key made cereal ad of the year and aren’t offering any real cereal… I was ready to buy!”
All things considered, the short recipe video is an interesting tonal departure from the scene that inspired it. Even though audiences may have enjoyed watching Syril fail, seeing him in such a miserable state while being forced to move back with his judgmental mother just feels like overkill for the poor guy. It definitely fits in with Andor’s darker tone for the Star Wars universe. Odds are he’ll swing back with a vengeance after suffering such a hit, but for now, he’s the cereal guy.
The recipe is easy enough that anyone can make it. But the acquisition of a proper blue cereal may be a bit of an issue, given how it’s not the most common of colors. Maybe it’s helpful that this episode was released right around the same time Boo Berry is back on shelves.
