Chelsea scored in the 59th minute at the DW Stadium and were en route to a comfortable 3 points when Villas-Boas surprised a few, including the player himself, by taking goalscorer Daniel Sturridge off. Chelsea attack lost its pace after that and Wigan attacked more freely, finally equalizing in the 88th minute after Rodallega’s shot spilled out of Cech’s hands and landed right in front of Gomez who made no mistake in sending the ball in the back of the net.
