Ahead of his match against Basilashvili, Rublev was asked by the ATP whether he felt his form in Halle would carry over into Wimbledon. The Championships begin later this month, and the Russian will be among the top seeds at the tournament.

Andrey Rublev, who has never been beyond the Wimbledon second round, responded by pointing out that Rafael Nadal’s withdrawal from the grasscourt Major would help - as it would guarantee him a higher seeding.

The 23-year-old is, however wary of the other players in the draw, especially big servers like Jan-Lennard Struff and Nick Kyrgios.

“I have adapted to the grass, but there are so many things I can still improve on” - Andrey Rublev

Andrey Rublev is pleased with how his game is shaping up on grass, but he believes there is still plenty of room for improvement. He highlighted the touch shots - like the volley and slice - as areas that need special attention.

The World No. 7 further asserted that his win over a seasoned grasscourter like Philipp Kohlschreiber in the Halle quarterfinals will give him confidence moving forward.
